OSI Food Solutions Shows the World Their Commitment to Food Safety

OSI Food Solutions was known as Otto’s Meat Market when it was first opened by a German immigrant back in 1909 in Chicago. After the founder made the decision to involve his sons in the company more, it was renamed in 1928 to Otto & Sons. During the early years of the company’s operation, Otto managed to grow it from a relatively small meat market to a wholesale provider of meat. In 1975, the company was renamed to OSI and then OSI Group when they began to operate in the international market.

When it comes to convenience restaurant foods, OSI Food Solutions is the largest company in the market and one of the largest private companies throughout the United States. Much of their expansion is due to an important business partnership with McDonald’s as they have been able to grow alongside the company since Otto’s sons first made an agreement with their CEO when the company only had a few fast food restaurants in the United States. There was no way that OSI Food Solutions could have predicted that the demand from McDonald’s would grow so quickly, but they did everything that they could to ensure that they were able to keep up with it.

In the 1950s, the company that would become OSI Food Solutions became the main supplier of hamburgers for McDonald’s and the company has been growing quickly ever since. As McDonald’s grew, the company focused on finding new ways to ensure that the food that they were providing was able to be shipped to different locations throughout the United States while staying fresh. Ensuring that the food that is produced by OSI Food Solutions is safe for the customers of their business partners is important to the company. In 2015, they hired Dr. Kenneth Peterson to oversee keeping the quality of the food that they produce up to regulations and, most importantly, the expectations of their business partners and their customers. Before working for OSI, Dr. Kenneth Peterson worked for the IEH Laboratories as their Division of Regulatory Compliance President. In addition, he has also held a position at the United States Department of Agriculture.
