The America Institute of Architects is an organization that has been around for a very long time. It was started by six individuals in 1857 who saw the need to protect the industry. Architects needed to speak the same language, and this could only happen if there were a body that could bring all the architects together. Today, AIA is the largest body of architects and other professionals in the building and construction industry. Only the best professionals in the industry get a chance to lead this organization. The latest in the leadership of AIA is Robert Ivy. He serves as the CEO and executive vice president of the organization, a position he has held since 2011.
The resume of Robert Ivy is nothing but impressive. He has served as an architect all his career life. During this period, he has held other positions in the organization and even outside the organization. One of his best is the role of the editor-in-chief at McGraw Hill where he was in charge of Architectural Records. It is under him that it became a leading publication in the world. It even won the National Magazine Award for General Excellence. Visit on his twitter for latest updates.
His appointment to AIA was out of merit as no other person in the industry beats his track record. He has received the title of Master Architect from Alpha Rho Chi fraternity, a title bestowed only to the best in the industry. He becomes the first architect of the 21st century to receive this title and the seventh in history.
In June 2018, Robert Ivy received the Noel Polk Lifetime Achievement Award from the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters. This award recognizes people from Mississippi who have done exceptionally well in the field of art. Ivy was given this award because of his personal contributions to this industry as well as his commitment to helping other professionals in the art industry.
Robert Ivy became the first architect in history to win this award. His outstanding performance makes fit into the list of prominent personalities who have previously won this award. Others include Morgan Freeman and Walter Anderson.
